Workout Guidance
Today our workout is Riley! This is a Hero WOD dedicated to the memory of Army Sgt. 1st Class Riley G. Stephens, 39, of Tolar, Texas, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), who died Sept. 28, 2012, in Wardak, Afghanistan, of wounds caused by enemy small-arms fire Hero WODs are a tradition dating back to the earliest days of CrossFit. Some of the earliest adopters of CrossFit as a fitness program were professionals from military, law enforcement, and first responder groups who recognized the usefulness of a training plan that emphasized functional strength and capacity. Even as broadly adopted as CrossFit is now, these professionals are still overrepresented in our communities, and we’re grateful that we get to train with them every day. The unfortunate reality is that these jobs are dangerous, and on the occasion that a member of a CrossFit community loses their life, we honor their memory by doing a workout with some of their favorite movements and rep schemes. Above all else, there’s one rule on Hero WOD day: no complaining. We can of course scale and modify workouts, and your coach will help you, but ultimately these days aren’t about us; they’re about the people who gave everything so that we could keep training together in peace and safety.

Question of the Day
