Congrats to Ben P, our April Member of the Month!
Find out more about Ben below..

How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you start? We think 5 years because Tracey was pregnant with Brooklyn. Most likely Jo told Tracey about it and then Tracey told me to give it a try instead of indoor soccer.

What do you do when you’re not at TILT? According to the kiddos I go to work, make dinner, and do dishes. Eventually they came up with wood working, which is less depressing than how this list started.

What is something most of TILT doesn’t know about you? It took me 6 years to get my Mechanical Engineering degree from UW-Madison. Organic chemistry convinced me to abandon Chemical Engineering and switch to Mechanical. Or there’s the night Tracey and I met. I was wearing lederhosen from an OctoberFest party (yeah, Tracey dated that guy) *see picture below

If there was a “Ben” workout, what would it be? It would include running, bear crawls, rope climbs, snatches, and overhead squats. So how about a 15 minute AMRAP. 1 snatch, 1 overhead squat, 1 rope climb, 25 meter bear crawl and 200 meter run. Each round, increase the reps on the snatch OHS, and rope climbs. Maybe even some double unders or burpee box jumps! And I encourage everyone to use a women’s Olympic barbell.

What is one of your favorite memories at TILT? I would say doing WODs in the construction debris with no heat or running water when TILT first took over the gym. I remember doing burpees and all of us standing up and our chests were black. I also enjoy watching other people accomplish something new; Tracey getting a muscle up, Dom handstand walking, or Meritza recently PRing a movement. That stuff is cool!
